What sources link Thomas Richard Leech, III to Edward Lewis, Jr as his son?

The line that descends in America from this profile believes its ancestry to be connected to the John le Leche, Esq. of Eggemere & Wighton, Norfolk of Oxfordshire:
"A Mr. J. G. Leach had said that his "cousin, William Sanford Leach, son of Elbridge Gerry Leach, of Boston, made the English ancestry of our family a matter of research, and it is said he traced the family back to John Leach, surgeon to King Edward the Third. My cousin died in the Union army, and the data he made has been lost." https://archive.org/stream/leachfamilyrecor00ches/leachfamilyrecor0...

but this line leads back to Lewis in Wales.

Hi Sharon,

I took a quick look at Lawrence Leach and wife Elizabeth, with son Richard.

The dates and places correspond correspond with the records, i.e. Lawrence died 24th June 1662 in Salem, Essex County.

Lawrence was born in Martock, Somerset, England.

Could this be simply that Lewis and Leach were thought to be the same surname?

Lawrence Leach, of Salem
Yes - what records confirm his grandfather was Edward?
It's those records I'm looking for.
:-)

Hi Sharon

The public records don't allow me to go back as far as Lawrence's father.

Local research would seem the only way forward. Anything else would be
very speculative.

Sorry, but cant help any further.

I'm not finding that anywhere I look, Private. Is that something you've got info on?
