Erica Howton when you disconnected Hendrick from his wife in April some of the children stayed with him while some stayed with her.

Her current birth date is about 100 years after his so it looks like all of the children should have stayed with him.

specific interest is Geertje Hendricks who it seems is a duplicate for Geertje Hendricks

This site has a different mother for the Aten children (3 girls 1 boy) who are now sorted to their father, thank you!

Geertje Stynmets (born Sheerburch) 1596 - 1636
Birth: 1596 Netherlands
Marriage: Marriage to: Johannes Casparius Davidus Stynmets
Circa 1589 Netherlands
Marriage: Circa 1610 Arnhem, Gelderland, Netherlands

Is there no other Geertje Hendrickse? Death location is different (Bergen County NJ vs Flatbush). The Flatbush girl has parents.

Need more info ....

Geertje Hendricks

Counter to the usual myth form, in this case 3 sisters came to America: Geertje, Beletje, Annetje Hendrickse.

Would those be:
Belitje Hendrickse & Anneken Hendrickse

11/30/2016 at 10:38 PM

Zabriskie thinks the 3 sisters were from Arnhem, Gelderland.

So was Hendrick Aten.

11/30/2016 at 11:50 PM

Erica, read the About of Beletje on Geni, it is quoting the "source".

Apparently Beletje's son was born 5 years before her, this "source" can't be relied on.

According to Zabriskie Beletje's "son" is actually her husband, whoever complied that Douglas Family Ties page has put her in the wrong generation.

12/1/2016 at 10:59 PM

Do you mean this Beletje, my 10th great aunt (possibly)

Belitje Hendrickse

Is the profile manager aware of the correction needed?

Would it be better to set up a corrected profile with the correct husband & with the Zabriskie source quoted & uploaded?

I have not yet fully digested the article or visualized the tree, I've more followed the Skillman side.

12/1/2016 at 11:00 PM

And do we think the 3 sisters are Aten's? Zabriskie doesn't give them parents.

12/2/2016 at 4:19 PM

The manager is not receptive to advice by me, in fact he doesn't remember working in this part of the tree.

I don't know if a new profile is needed ... we could use this one Belitje Hendrickse who at least has the right husband! :) Sadly i suspect that her parents are very wrong after reading the text of her father's" About, Hendrick Hendricksen Kipp, i very much doubt she is a Kip.

So without having done any real digging we now have 3 Beletje's already:

Belitje Hendrickse
Belitje Hendrickse
Belitje Hendrickse (i commented on her profile pic)

Zabriskie doesn't assign parents that i am aware of, I am hunting for the baptisms in Arnhem but no success yet, but he is certain that the 3 sisters are indeed sisters. I think we will end up with a "Hendrick N.N." place-holder and no mother.

12/2/2016 at 4:38 PM

Oh goodness, these indentured husband hunting serving girls were not the daughters of "Hendrick Kip of the haughty lip" ! They would have inherited prime real estate at thirty third & third (or toity turd & turd, as they say in Flatbush ....)

And they don't belong to the Aten's either, do they?

12/2/2016 at 4:51 PM

Our esteemed (and somewhat dead) predecessor gave up on them as a dead-end, unless the online archive gods are very kind to us I doubt we will do better but 1/2 the fun is in the hunting.

12/2/2016 at 4:56 PM

And finding ridiculing poems about New Amsterdam settlers !

12/2/2016 at 7:23 PM

So I've made the "Hendrick" profile & attached the 3 sisters

Does Geertje Hendricks get merged into Geertje Hendricks & lose the Hendrick (Henrick) RIJCKSEN parents ?

12/2/2016 at 9:45 PM

I think so

12/2/2016 at 11:42 PM

Done.

This profile Cornelis Aertszen Van Schaick has:

"he married Belitje Arabella Hendrickse, daughter of Henrick Hendrickse, 1 Jul 1640 in Sloterdyck, Utricht, Netherland"

12/3/2016 at 3:10 AM

I think that is right. Zab references it too iirc
Not near PC at moment

12/3/2016 at 4:26 AM

Yes GOZ quotes Dr Hart on page 266 of https://books.google.com.au/books?id=k4zStKaPmsEC&printsec=fron...

married 1 July 1640 at Sloterdijk "near Amsterdam".

Presumably they mean https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sloterdijk,_Amsterdam

Utricht (Utrecht?) is another city in another province, doesn't make much sense. Fun fact, Utrecht is the oldest Dutch city.

12/3/2016 at 5:10 AM

Bottom right corner of https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G9QV-39VW?mode=g&i... is the marriage declaration of Cornelis Arentss and Belitje Heijndrix. Amsterdam 16/06/1640

Frankly if i wasnt working backwards from the known date i doubt i would have found it. Some of these scribes must have been writing with their eyes closed... drunk.

Both husband and wife appear to be illiterate given the "X"s in place of signatures

12/3/2016 at 4:14 PM

Now those are my kind of pioneers!

Can we find sister Annatje's husband? from GOZ on page 266:

"Annatje, first wife of Jan Arentsen Vanderbilt ..."

12/3/2016 at 4:16 PM

Here she is ....

Anneken Hendrickse

With the false Bergen origin? And fictional parents?

to be merged into Anneken Hendrickse ... unless we choose not to follow Zabriskie? (who would do that?)

12/3/2016 at 4:17 PM

dupe for sister Annetje (mother of the vanderbilt family) has yet another set of parents ive not come across before Anneken Hendrickse

12/3/2016 at 4:19 PM

Could be a bad merge & he had 2 Annteje wives?

Annetje JELLIS
Birth: Abt 1641 of Bommel, Geld, Neth
Death: 1697 Saugerties, Ulster, N y
Father: Jiles Douwesz (Jellis Douwse) FONDA
Mother: Hester JANS (DOUWSE)

12/3/2016 at 4:24 PM

For something that looks a little more sourced

https://books.google.com/books?id=P3TWry2cVJQC&lpg=RA1-PA91&amp...

Jan Jansen of Oosterhout in Brabant, widower of Annetje Hendricks, and Annetje Jelles of Bommel in Gelderland were married in Kingston on 18 February 1663.

12/3/2016 at 4:25 PM

:) we are cross posting

12/3/2016 at 4:26 PM

I think we have another Annetje Hendricks, Jan Jansen is not Jan Arentsen.

12/3/2016 at 4:33 PM

no indication of a merge in the revision history, there is still a daughter attached to that couple, Annetje Osteerhout if she does turn out to be another Mrs Vanderbilt and current husband is Mr Oosterhout

I'm offline now, good luck.

12/3/2016 at 4:34 PM

I think your idea that there were 2 Mrs Annetje Vanderbilts will turn out to be correct, need a good Vanderbilt history to check.

12/3/2016 at 4:57 PM

FamilySearch will no evidence suggests Gerrit Hendricks for Annetje Hendricks parents. She had a sister Femmetje Hendricks
