Origins

Evidence needed for parents.

Seen as son of Martha McVey & Benjamin "Old Ben" McVey, I But they were Friends in Maryland - not in Pennsylvania.

Old John McVey of Maryland & Mary Elizabeth McVay seem more likely.

Please add source information to profiles. So far all I’ve seen are trees.

Is this the correct tombstone? It shows he died in 1848, but his widow applied for a pension in 1833:

Being that Benjamin is my 4th GGU, i'm committed to find these answers. I'll look thru my personal archives.

I’m feeling more comfortable that the tree is coming together, but surely he did not have 17 children. So a child list would be most appreciated.

There is definitely a lot of confusing information regarding the McVay/McVey lines. I've been trying to go through my DNA matches lately to see if I can find some better clues as to who were the correct parents of Benjamin McVay (1765-1848). I do have documentation regarding his son John (1808-1889) on my Ancestry account, but I don't use Geni all that much. There is a McVay Archive Family Newsletter on FamilySearch that might be helpful in piecing things together more. https://www.familysearch.org/library/books/viewer/832450/?offset=&a...=
