Related several ways through the Fleck, Cook, Duck, Carter, Page and Starling families.

The Starling family were a large seafaring family originally from Blakeney, Norfolk. Later relocated to South Shields, Co. Durham when Blakeney port silted up in the mid c19th.

I am a Starting descendant. My grandfather was Edwin Tannahill Young, son of Annie Maria Young (Starling) and grandson of John Starling (1829-1860). John Starling was the brother of Samuel Markby Starling, the father of Samuel Emmerson Starling (see below).

Thomas Page married into my Muir Family, he was my 3x great uncle. He was a mariner, died Chennai, India in 1868. He was a descendant of the Duck family, Whitby. His great grandmother was Margaret Fleck (Cook); Cpt James Cook's sister. His grandmother was Mary Duck (nee Fleck) and his mother was Mary Page (nee Duck).

Another relative was named James Cook Carter 1829- 1900), great grandson of Margaret Fleck (nee Cook), Cpt James Cook's sister. Born South Shields, Co. Durham 1829.

JCC's daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Carter married Samuel Emmerson Starling, a first cousin thrice removed of mine, descended from a shared ancestor, my 3x great grandfather, sea captain Samuel Starling (of Blakeney).

Would be interested in being included in your search thread.

Best Regards

Alistair
