Timothy Southard was a Revolutionary soldier, and is said to have died from the effects of the war, and buried at Rockaway.His father, also named Timothy, was among the first settlers in the Hibernia mountains from Long Island. His wife died,leaving young Timothy by a few weeks old, born Oct.6, 1736. His father sold out his household belongings and started on foot to return to relatives at Long Island. He passed the first night at Haden's at Denville, and was induced to leave young Timothy,and return later, or during the next summer. He never returned, and was never heard from. Young Timothy grew up with the Haden family ....

To the best of my ability this is a verbatim copy of the last will and testament of Abraham Hedden, who died in Shelby Co., KY., 1846

  • In the name of God Amen.
  • Whereas Abraham Hedden of the County of Shelby and the State of Kentucky.
  • Do hereby make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form
  • following.
  • That is to say: First I desire and do hereby authorize my Executor
  • whose name I will hereafter insert, to dispose of as much of my personal
  • Estate as will satisfy all my just debts and funeral expenses.
  • Secondly, after all just debts and funeral expenses shall have been paid,
  • I give to my Wife Mary my personal and real estate during her widowhood.
  • Thirdly, after her death or marriage, I desire my personal as well as
  • real estate sold and the money asumming therefrom to be disposed of as
  • follows;
  • First. I bequeath to Famey(sic) Lemert one-hundred Dollars. And the
  • residue
  • of my Estate I wish to be equally devided among my children, whose names
  • are as follows(Vis) Isaac Hedden, the heirs of Simon Hedden, of Samuel
  • Hedden, of Jacob Hedden of James Hedden. Catherine the wife of Lazarus
  • Tilley, Mary Wife of Wm. Hankin Susan Wife of Charles Hunter The heirs of
  • Ann Hunter formerly the wife of Carter Hunter. Lezer and Gilbert Hedden
  • both desceased who during their natural life received of me their portion
  • of my Estate. I therefore devise nothing to their heirs.
  • And Lastly, I do hereby Constitute and appoint my friend Peter G. Bass
  • Executor of this my last will and testament and hereby revoking all
  • former wills or testaments by me made. In witness thereof I affix my hand
  • and Seal this 12th day of Nov in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred
