A.C. Peterson Died Sunday Morning at Home in This City

HAD BEEN A RESIDENT OF FANNIN COUNTY FOR SOME FIFTY-FOUR YEARS

A.C. Peterson died at his home in this city Sunday morning at 1:30 after an illness that had lasted for some months.

The funeral service was conducted at the residence at 2:30 this afternoon by Rev. Smith of the First Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. Varner of the First Prebyterian Church. The interment was in Willow Wild Cemetery.

The active pallbearers were: Geo. Anderson, John Peterson, Ralph Shipley, T.M. Sheppard, Harris Keene and Ernest Keene. Honorary: W.P. Owens, J.K. Platt, Sim Kennedy, W.A. Peters, T.J. Clotfelter, Joe Keene, C.A. Wheeler and Dr. A.B. Kennedy.

Mr. Peterson was born in Tennessee on April 6, 1854. He came from there to Texas when he was eighteen years old and had lived in Fannin County ever since. He was a blacksmith by trade, and when he first came here he was employed by the late V.A. Ewing. Later he bought on interest in the business. He was a good workman and a very steady worker and he succeeded in business. He was active until failing health compelled him to give up his work.

In November 1886, he was married to Emma Jane Reston in Sherman. They had no children of their own but adopted a boy and a girl, John L. Peterson and Mrs. R.F. Dunham, now of Durant. Some time after the death of his wife he was married second time to Mrs. Myrtle Keene in June 1921. To them one daughter was born, Mary Ann. This wife and daughter, one sister, Mrs. Mary Pyle of this city and the three little sons of his adopted daughter, Addison, John Fieldson and Evans Dunham, survive him, as do the two children he and his wife reared.

More than forty-three years ago Mr. Peterson united with the First Presbyterian Church in this city, and remained an active member until his death. His energy, his frugality, his fidenty to his task, his kindness were virtues to be emulated.

Addison Center Peterson was born on 6 April 1857, in Bonham, Fannin, Texas, United States. He had at least 1 daughter with Myrtle Oliver Pearson. He died on 7 June 1931, in his hometown, at the age of 74, and was buried in Willow Wild Cemetery, Bonham, Fannin, Texas, United States.
