Adeline Matilda Duval, fourth daughter of Major Claiborne (1760-1824) and Elizabeth Pope DuVal (1760-1815), was born near Danville, Mercer County, KY. She married in 1819, her second cousin, Dr. Archibald Bolling DuVal (1799-1877) (Transylvania University, M.D. 1837), the son of Col. Samuel Sheppard Duval (1752-1825) and Anne Everard Bolling DuVal. He was a Methodist minister and later physician.
Their seven children were Anne Everard (1820-1901); Martha M. (c1826-1850); Dr. Alexander Summerfield Duval (1827-1900); Dr. John Duval who graduated in medicine in Paris, France, but died young; Rev. Elmore Douglas Duval (c1838-); Rev. Edward Duval (1840-1900) and Adeline Matilda DuVal (c1842-1902).
NOTE: In 1842 Boyle County was formed from southern part of Mercer County and the northern part of Lincoln County; Danville became its county seat.
