About Aletta Catharina Reitz

From 'A concise history of Port Beaufort & White Sands (also known as Witsand) including Family Trees White Sands & Port Beaufort' written by John McGregor

George Museum - Rev. Tobias Herold married Aletta, widow of Advocate J J Joubert, in Stellenbosch after the death of his first wife. Between them they had 11 children and she bore him 4 more. Aletta wore a wig all her life to hide her red hair which was considered a sign of bad breeding in her day.
