"The Norris Family" is an amazing work in Genealogy, 1500 pages in four volumes. Only three copies were produced, and one is located in the Rare Books Section of the Library of Congress. Another is to be in the Kansas DAR Library at dodge city, Ks.

"He was devised land called "Hills & Dales" by his father in 1761. They resided in Hartford co., Md where he apparently owned additional lands tho no records have been discovered concerning title, etc. His name has not been found on any roster of soldiers in the War of the Revolution. He signed his oath of Allegiance in 1778 & is on Return of William Smithson, Hartford co. (MSS Md. Records Vol. III Fol. 6). They were both living in 1810 but no not show in census of 1820 & both probably deceased. At least one child died in infancy."
