About Angela Trzebiatowski

FindAGrave lists her death as 9 January 1899, but she appears in the 1900 US Census as wife of Ignatius Trzebiatowski. The Saint Hedwig's records indicate that Angela Trzebiatowska died on 9 January 1899 and was buried in Calvary Cemetery on 12 January 1899.

In addition to a saloon/grocery on Brady Street, the Trzebiatowskis also owned a dry goods store on nearby Humboldt Avenue. To judge from Hieronim Derdowski's diatribe in the 21 January 1897 Wiarus, it sounds like Mom ran the saloon while Pop (who had once done business as "Felix Smith" and "Felix Schmidt") ran the dry goods store:

NOWINY z Milwaukee:

In the Hall of Mr. Palubicki, under the name (Pabst Hall) will be on Saturday, January 30, a grand ball. All Poles in Milwaukee should support the Old Kashubian Jozef Pałubicki, who welcomes each of us, warmly, in an old Polish way. When our traveling agent, Dr. B. Wodziński, joined him recently, Mr. Józef's band played a march in honor of WIARUS and everyone present in the venue shouted: "Long live WIARUS!

Having recommended Polish premises in the Cream City, worthy of endorsement, we would like to point out another one which should be avoided - this is the salon cave of Mrs. Trzebiatowska, 303 Brady Str. This lady, even though she has made a fortune out of the Poles, now says that the Poles are absolutely worthless; even when someone calls her Trzebiatowska, she insists on being called "Frau Schmidt.” It is no wonder that the son of this Herod in skirts has become overwhelmed, because this trait is probably hereditary "mania furibunda." Do not support, Countrymen, those who, being native Poles, are ashamed of their nationality.
