Obituary: Teutopolis Press - July 14, 1938
MRS, ANNA HELMINK DEAD
Mrs. Anna Helmink aged 72years, 6 months and 4 days, widow of Henry Helmink, passed to the Great Beyond at the family home at Lillyville Friday, July 8th, 1938. Altho she had been in failing health for the past three years, she was not considered seriously ill until a week before her death when she was confined to her bed.
Anna Cohorst was born on a farm west of Effingham, February 4, 1866, as the daughter of Mr and Mrs Jos Cohorst. In the year 1888 she was united in marriage to Henry Helmink. After their marriage Mr and Mrs Helmink lived continually in the Lillyville vicinity where Mr Helmink died in December 1928. To this happy union thirteen children were born, four of whom have preceded the mother in death. The living children are: Leo of St Gregor, Saskatchewan, Canada; Ed, Adolph and Ervin of Bruno, Saskatchewan, Canada; Pete of Effingham; Leonard and Harry at Home at Lillyville; William at Island Grove and Mrs. Minnie Menees of Anna, Ill.
One step-daughter: Cecilia Helmink of Chicago, besides twenty-one grandchildren; one sister: Mrs Elizabeth Helmink of Wisconsin and six brothers: Tony Cohorst of Wisconsin; John Cohorst of Minnesota; Joseph, Ben. Henry and Clem Cohorst of Island Grove also survive.
Funeral services were conducted Monday morning, July 11th at 8:30 o'clock at the Sacred Heart Church at Lillyville, Rev Francis Mazir, pastor, officiating. Burial took place in the parish Cemetery near the Church.
The following: were among the many distant relatives who attended the funeral services: Miss Cecilia Helmink of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs Ervin Gillespie, Mr* and Mrs. Ervin Gillespie and Ed Gillespie, all of Alton; Mr. and Mrs. Wm Helmink and family, Jos Cohorst and family; Ben Cohorst and family, Henry Cohorst and Clem Cohorst and family, all of the Island Grove vicinity; Mrs. Minnie Menees of Anna; Mr. and Mrs. Pete Helmink and family of Effingham, and many others whose names we were unable to get.
