Scotland StickerArchibald was born about 1622 (based on his being the second son≤ref name="Analecta">Maidment, James. Accessed 22 Aug 2021≤/ref>) at Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland where his father was minister. He wasthe second son of Master David Dickson and Margaret Roberton, named for his mother's father according to the Scottish naming pattern.
He married Marie Barclay, one of the three daughters and co-heirs of Mr. Robert Barclay of Montgommeryston, Provost of Irvine≤ref>Dewey, Emily McKay. Dickson - Scotch-Irish.
