This is our Papa. Papa grew tobacco and occasionally made a run of Moonshine Whiskey to provide for us 12 children. I remember, when I was about 5 years old, seeing a dresser drawer full of silver dollars. My brother, Henry Lee, told me a few months ago that the silver dollars were from a single buyer for an entire run of whiskey. Henry Lee also said he remembered 2 revenue agents coming to our house and searching under beds, in closets, in dresser drawers, the barn, and outbuildings, but finding nothing. I don't believe Papa made any "Moonshine" after 1945, for I don't remember him ever being away from home at night, as I was growing up. Papa didn't drink or smoke and worked very hard to support his family.
