Per newspaper obituary notice 11/28/1942 - 'Mr. Wirta was a resident of the Svensen district for a number o'f years, He died here and will be buried in the family plot in Svensen Cemetery. The Finnish Brotherhood, of' which he was a member, will assist in the ceremonies at the cemetery. Mr. Wirta was born and reared in the province of Puori, Lanni, Finland and came to the US almost 33 years ago, coming almost directly to the Lower Columbia river district. For most of his life he engaged in the carpenter contracting business. He is survived by his widow Hilda, and four sons, Reino with the US Navy-stationed currently in Virginia, Leo and Olavi, both of Portland, and Donald of Grass Valley CA. His brother Alexander died about 2 years ago.
Immigrated to NY, NY 6/7/1910 on the Caronia, departing from Liverpool - (it lists his immigration date as 1902 on 1930 census). Ship Manifest in 1910 he listed his name as Willehard Lindfors, that he had been to the US (in Broolyn NY) before, between 1906-1908. Listed height 5'-6" tall. Listed he was going to his brother Alex Lindfors and sister Ida Lindfors's home at 723 43rd st, Brooklyn NY.
On census' it listed they lived on a farm. The 1920 census had him living in svenson with his wife olga and their 2 sons leo and reino. Occupation as carpenter/building house.
Per Uncle Don - He changed last name from Lindfors to Wirta to avoid confusion between his and his brother's construction companies. They were both A. Lindfors Contractors working in Svenson Oregon. SEE NOTE ON JUHO FOR INFO.

My Dad went to Pori and looked at LDS records Roll JK539 and JK540.
According to a newspaper article, the hearing of the application for American citizenship set for the September naturalizaion court for A.W. Wirta was held today-September 10, 1926.
