About Benjamin Parkhurst
Benjamin is on record as being in Woodbridge, New Jersey about 1670 as one of the first settlers. He exchanged his properties at Woodbridge on 8 Aug 1672, with Claude Vallot of Elizabethtown, and became a permanent resident of Elizabethtown.
He was appointed Lieutenant of the Company of Foot on 22 March 1679/80, and was listed as Justice of the Peace on 4 February 1682/3, Judge of Small Causes on 28 March 1683, and Captain of the Company on 3 December 1683.
When he died, probably in February 1683/4, the inventory of his estate established a value of 188 pounds 16 shillings.
He married Martha Homan, daughter of William Homan and Winnifred unknown, circa 1675, in Elizabethtown, Essex Co., NJ.
