Benjamin Robinson, the fifth child of Peter Robinson, Sr. and second wife Experience Lumbert, b. Feb. 23, 1703/4 at Tisbury (Martha's Vineyard, Dukes County, Mass.). The Stafford, Conn. vital records say Benjamin died at Stafford Apr. 12, 1772. However, at what cemetery Benjamin is interred is currently unknown to the memorialist.

Both the Stafford, Conn. town and Stafford Church records say Benjamin died at Stafford Apr. 12, 1772. However, at what cemetery Benjamin is interred is currently unknown to the memorialist.

On Mar. 4, 1728/9 at Windham, Conn., Benjamin m. Jerusha Bingham, dau. of Capt. Samuel Bingham, Sr. and his first wife Faith Ripley. On Feb. 24, 1760, Benjamin and wife Jerusha were admitted members of the Stafford, Conn. Church, "from the 2nd Church at Lebanon." They had seven children; the first five b. of record at Windham, Conn. and the last two of record at Lebanon, Conn.

Through his father, Benjamin was the great grandson of Rev. John Robinson (1576-1625) and Bridget White, late of Leiden, Holland. Rev. Robinson was the pastor at Leiden of the core Pilgrims who sailed in 1620 aboard the Mayflower and founded the Plymouth Colony. Through Benjamin's wife Jerusha Bingham's mother, their children are descendants of Gov. William Bradford of the 1620 Mayflower and Plymouth Colony.

• i. Eunice Robinson, b. Nov. 16, 1731; m. Hugh White at Stafford, Conn. Apr. 8, 1756; said to have relocated to Vershire, Orange County, VT. Seven known children of the family.

• ii. Irene Robinson, b. Nov. 1, 1733; m. Dec. 4, 1755 Capt. John Blodgett at Stafford, Conn.; relocated to Claremont, NH and were one of the progenitors of the large interrelated Alden, Ainsworth and Blodgett families of Claremont, NH. They died at Claremont, NH two days apart in April 1813. Twelve known children of the family.

• iii. Col. Elijah Robinson, b. Oct. 1, 1735; m. Jan. 22, 1761 Lydia Scripture at Stafford, Conn.; relocated by 1781 to Weathersfield, VT where they died in 1809 and 1822, respectively. Seven known children of the family.

• iv. Eliphalet Robinson, b. Dec. 5, 1739; m. Nov. 25, 1761 Mary Follett at Stafford, Conn. (Stafford Church and Town Recs.); relocated to Claremont, NH by 1790 where they both died in 1813 and 1816, respectively. The memorialist believes that Mary was likely the dau. of Robert Follett and Abigail Richardson, b. at Attleboro, Mass. May 27, 1741. Two known children of the family.

• v. Lydia Robinson, b. Feb. 5, 1741/2; m. Nov. 27, 1760 Daniel Blodgett at Stafford, Conn. (called Daniel Bloggett, Tertius [3rd], in the Stafford Church Rec.), brother of her sister Irene's husband. Daniel d. as a prisoner at New York City during the Rev. War. Lydia purportedly died at Chelsea, VT in 1811. Nine children of the family.

• vi. Jerusha Robinson, b. Aug. 8, 1746; m. Feb. 4, 1779 as his 2nd wife Thomas Barrows of North Mansfield, Conn., where they both died in 1802 and 1830, respectively. Six children of the family.

• vii. Benjamin Robinson, Jr., b. Apr. 24, 1749; m. his 1st cousin Ruth Johnson on Sept. 18, 1770 at Willington, Conn. (dau. of his father's sister Mary); both died at Brownington, VT in 1833 and 1837, respectively. Benjamin was a Rev. War soldier and granted a pension. His widow Ruth held a Rev. War widow's pension at her death. Eight children of the family.
