In the Revolutionary War he was Major of the 3rd Ulster Regt. Sept 2, 1775; Lt. Col., Feb 21, 1778, under Col. Cantine, and served as Brigadier General of the Militia after the war. He was the supervisor of New Paltz 1777, 1782, 1783; Member of the Assembly 1786, 1791, 1792; State Senator 1793-1796; Member of Council of Appointments of Middle District 1793 and 1795.
