Cal was first found in the 1900 Census living with his parents and 7 siblings in Wayne, NE. For the 1910 census he was still with the family, but now in Sherman, NE and with 10 siblings at home. Sometime shortly thereafter he found his way to Wyoming to homestead land. He married Irma and they had son, Lavern in Tower, WY in 1917, and then Tuff in 1919. He was also shown there when he registered for the WWI Draft in 1917. They were missed in the 1920 census, but that was the year they were awarded 320 acres in Crook County, WY through the Homestead Act. Within a few years they moved to South Dakota for the birth of son, Earl and then in 1930 were back home in Carroll, NE where he was working as a mechanic. His brother, Orie was living with them and they had 3 kids at home. They were still in Carroll for the 1940 census. He was still working as mechanic with the 3 kids at home. The next generation was tough as they lost their son, Earl in WWII in Germany and then Irma passed away as well. The 1950 census found the widowed Cal living with his son, Arlyn and living in Snohomish County, WA were he was farming
