Served in Virginia militia from 1744 until 1781 when he died, Served in James Buchannan's 9th Company for which he received 4000 acres as bonus for services in the George Rogers Clark Expedition to "Illinois" (Northwest Territory) and Revolutionary War. Served as capacity of Captain to put down Tory Insurrection on New River 7/12/1780.
