He was disinherited by his father because of the part he played in Bacon's Rebellion.

Lancaster Family, by Jeannie Lancaster, pg 276 Joseph Bridgers, Jr. was disinherited by his father Joseph, Sr., because of his (Jr.'s) involvement with BACON'S REBELLION. After Joseph, Sr.'s death in 1686 Jr. brought a frindly suite against his brothers, William and Samuel, and received 2000 acres from his father's estate.



Although Joseph Jr. was disinherited by his father, after a lengthy lawsuit against the estate of his brothers, he was deeded 2500 acres of land at Currawaugh, Isle of Wight, VA.


After his father's death in 1686, Joseph Jr. filed a lawsuit against his brothers Samuel and William. In 1707 William and Samuel Bridger deeded 2000 of the 7800 acres included in the Corawoak plantation to their brother Joseph.

Joseph Jr. made his will March 14, 1712 and it was probated Jan. 25, 1713.
