About Caroline Kraeger

Caroline was born near Fish Creek to Balthazar and Mary (Hoffert) Lehn on 25 February 1874. About 1879 the Lehn family moved to Red Willow County, Nebraska, where they Homesteaded land in the Beaver Valley south of Indianola.
The Kraeger and Lehn families had been neighbors in Lewis County and evidently remained in contact after the Lehns moved from Lewis County, because William Kraeger went to Nebraska and married Caroline Lehn in St Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola on 7 February 1893. Their first two children were born in Nebraska, but by 1896, William and Caroline had returned to Mohawk Hill in Lewis County, New York.
The 16 children born to this couple were: Albert H, Simon Harvey, Henry J, Amanda (Croniser), Sylvester G, Lawrence E, Magdelene, Walter A, Ambrose N, Raymond W, Edward J, Herman J, Margaret Mary, Benjamin J and Benjamin H.
In 1921 they sold the Mohawk Hill farm and moved to Constableville where she was a member of St Mary's Church and its Altar and Rosary Societies. She died unexpectedly in her home from Coronary Occlussion and Diabetes Mellitius.
