Caroline Catron was born on December 21, 1828 in the Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory. Her parents were John Catron, a white man, and Margaret Hildebrand, a Cherokee.

The 1835 Cherokee census shows the family living at Okoah Creek in what is now Tennessee. [1]

The family was Removed to Indian Territory and settled in the Tahlequah District where Caroline married Jesse Sanders about 1846. The 1852 Drennan Roll shows Caroline and Jesse living in the Tahlequah District near her parents. They were the parents of James, Margaret, [2] Cynthia, Elizabeth, Nicholas, John , and Florence. [3]

Caroline died on September 16, 1880 at Wauhilla,Tahlequah District, and is buried at the John Sanders Cemetery, Cherokee County, OK. [4]
