DNA matches for Wetterhold descendants and for this Wetterhold wife are hard to come by. Other mystery people have been resolved by means of DNA analysis but the Wetterholds remain currently intractable. Hopefully this changes in the future.
One strong possibility is that John Wetterhold's wife was numbered among ancestors who are already present in the genomes of the people being analyzed. For example, perhaps she was a Bas-Rhin-born daughter of Lt. George Schaeffer and his first wife Catharine Bieber. That would be a very natural marriage for Bas-Rhin born John Wetterhold, and yet would not show up in the form of otherwise unexplainable DNA matches for Karl David Wright, because there is already a relationship with that very same couple.
This thought is compelling, but would require detailed DNA analysis of someone other than Karl David Wright to prove.
