About Lt. George Schaeffer

Note about parents

George's parents and place of birth need to be consistent with his marriage, in Europe, to Catharine Bieber. Catharine has been linked to the Bieber brothers that emigrated to Berks County, Pennsylvania by DNA evidence. This implies that Johann Georg Schaeffer was born and lived in the vicinity of Hirschland, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France.

NOT a son of Philip Schaeffer. Religions and origins differ. Philip was an Anabaptist from Switzerland.

Also, NOT a son of George Schaeffer, who died in Dec 1771. The dates don't work out, although that George was likely an uncle since the naming patterns of his family were so similar.
