About Charles Lynn
Biography
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Lynn-162
The 1757 will of Dr. William Lynn of Fredericksburg, Virginia makes bequests to "each of the children of my Brother Charles in Ireland" and specifically mentions his [Charles's] "eldest son, William Lynn" [Spotsylvania County, VA Will Book B, 1749-1759, pp. 350-54 : Last Will and Testament of Dr. William Lynn of Fredericksburg, VA; images and transcript at http://www.house-of-lynn.com/Dr_William_Lynn.html]. This document makes it highly improbable that Charles ever lived in the U.S. and virtually impossible that his son William was born in Virginia in 1740.
More specifically, Dr. Lynn's bequest to Charles's children was this : "I give to each of the children of my brother Charles in Ireland ten pounds sterling, (except to his eldest son William Lynn, who is heir at law to his father & sufficiently provided for) but in case any of the said children should dye before payment be made by my Executors I direct that the ten pounds intende for such child shall be paid to his or her issue, if they have any." Since William by law would inherit whatever property his father owned, he would have had less incentive to leave Ireland than his younger siblings.
An interesting item, though not proven to be the brother of Dr. William Lynn, is an entry dated May 8, 1723 in the Londonderry Corporation Minute Book: "Orderd that Mr: Charles Linn & Mr. George Cary be admitted freemen [of the City of Londonderry] on their Petns [petitions] and Paying Customary Ffees." Charles's trade or profession was not mentioned. Being admitted a freeman of the city meant he was granted license to practice his trade or profession within the city boundaries. [Corporation of Londonderry Minute Book, v. 4, p. 51; images can be seen at http://www.proni.gov.uk/la_79_2_aa_4_1720-1736_pdf2.pdf. The date for that day's minutes is on original p. 47 (p. 19 of the .pdf); and the actual minute is on original p. 51 / p. 23 of the .pdf].

Sister, Margaret, Born There
Alt Name: Charles LYNN
Charles is referred to in the will of brother, Dr. William Lynn, of Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Virginia in 1757 as living in Ireland, and his son, William Sr., is also mentioned in this will.
Lynn researchers have concluded son William immigrated to America and settled in Prince William County, Virginia near his aunts and uncles. Each arrived in the 1750s, each acquired land near Powell's Run and farmed there in the 1760s, each was a practicing "Primitive Baptist," and each was illiterate and thus signed documents with an X, and all died at about the same time. Each had children about the same age, and each named one son John. The names of the children were similar and also indicate an association with the other Laird Lynn descendants in the region. In common with the Laird Lynn line, they used the same surname spelling. There were numerous presumed first-cousin intermarriages with the other Lynns of the area.
