About Chief Simon Onanguisse Kakanassige Kahquados
Simon Kahquados is #360 (old number 362) on the 1907 Wooster Roll. His traditional name was "Kakanassige" meaning "Bright light" but that translation requires scrutiny and comment by those with expertise in nuances of the Anishinaabemowin language and the early Potawatomi history of Wisconsin and Michigan.
In 1907 when Simon Kahquados was age 58 he was a single man living at Bark River, Michigan. He held no rights in Canada. He has no known descendants.
