FOUR MEN INJURED

By a Falling Mass of Rock in the Quincy Mine- Two of them Fatally,

Hancock, March 1. - Just before noon today a mass of rock fell in the 24th level of the man-engine shaft of the Quincy mine, injuring 4 men. John Mahney had his right knee, left ankle and left arm broken. The doctor has no hopes of his recovery. His wife died 2 months ago today. Christian Yoos received a serious cut on the chest, and his skull is fractured. He will die. Bartholomew Shea and William Goggin are slightly injured. No blame is attached to the company.

John Mahoney, One of the men injured by the accident in the Quincy mine last Thursday, died that evening. His funeral was held last Saturday forenoon. It was very largely attended. The deceased was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, who turned out in full regalia, The services were held in St. Ann’s church, the Rev. Father Otis officiating.

Christian Yoos, the second man who was injured in the Quincy mine accident on Thursday, Is still alive, but his recovery is not at all probable.

1888 March 8 Thursday- John Mahoney, one of the 4 miners that were injured by a fall of the ground in the Quincy mine last Thursday morning, died the evening of the same day. He was buried from St Ann's church in the Hancock Catholic cemetery. He leaves 3 small children, his wife died 2 months ago.

1888 March 8 Thursday- Christian Yoss, another one of the 4 miners died in the same accident listed above at Quincy mine, on Tuesday. He was buried from the German Lutheran church, Hancock. He was 40 years old and left a wife and one young son.



Hancock, Mich., March 8.- Christian Yoos, the second of the two miners injured in the Quincy mine accident, died Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. His funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock.
