After grade school, Clarence went to study to become a Brother in the Catholic Church, but left at about the age of 28. 1930 Census ED18-366: Clarence, 24, was a teacher and studying at Cathedral Latin School, Cuyahoga County, Cleveland, Ohio. Clarence graduated from the University Of Dayton. He was the district manager of the Social Security Administration. He joined Social Security in 1936, working in Pueblo and Denver, Colorado and Casper, Wyoming, before serving more than 16 years as Salt Lake district manager, retiring in 1973. Clarence was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Charities Board. He volunteered 17 years at Catholic Center St. Paul’s Chapel, was a volunteer at Judge Memorial Student Book Store and the St. Vincent de Paul soup kitchen.
