"He was a merchant in New York City and lived for a time on Broad Street, but afterwards removed to Brooklyn. He was one of the early sachems of Tammany Hall. He was interred in the van Beuren family vault in the Old South Dutch Church on Exchange Place, New York, which burned in 1835."

12 March 1798 A Petition of Cortlandt Van Bueren & Wm G Miller “for the Liberty to insert private drains into the Common Sewer of Broad St. to carry off the Water from their respective houses” was read. (not granted)
