"He was a merchant in New York City and lived for a time on Broad Street, but afterwards removed to Brooklyn. He was one of the early sachems of Tammany Hall. He was interred in the van Beuren family vault in the Old South Dutch Church on Exchange Place, New York, which burned in 1835."
