John Phillips, through his father, Francis West/Phillips, is a descendant of Mayflower passenger George Soule. His lineage has been officially accepted by the General Society of Mayflower descendants, in Plymouth, Massachusetts. And his name and ancestry are detailed, beginning on page 19, of the book, "George Soule of the Mayflower and his Descendants in the Fifth and Sixth Generations", published by the General Society of Mayflower Descendants in 2008 and available for purchase on their website.
