Batavia Young Man Married at Bride's Home in Elkhorn, Nebraska
The Omaha (Neb) World-Herald of Thursday evening says: "The wedding of alias Desdemona Baldwin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Beecher Baldwin of Elkhorn and Horace Heal Chapin of Batavia, New York, took place Wednesday at noon at the home of the bride's parents, the Rev. Mr. Aston of Waterloo performing the ceremony, which was witnessed by only the relatives of the Immediate family. A large number of friends was Invited to the reception, which was held in the afternoon from 8 to 6 o'clock. Mrs. E.E. Sterricker of this city, Sister of the bride, played the Lohengrin wedding march for the bridal procession, while Miss Helen Parker of Batavia. New York. sang 'One Perfect Day.'
The bride wore a gown of ivory duvetyne satin. The skirt was draped In soft folds. The bodice was folded in a V neck, finished with a Medici collar, and fashioned with a basque effect of princess lace, edged with duchess lace, the whole embroidered in pearls. Her veil was made with a Normandy cap, held In place by real orange blossoms, sent by a friend in California. She carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley. The only jewel worn was a diamond lavalliere, the gift of the groom.
Little Miss Martha Sterricker, niece of the bride, and Master Carroll Baldwin, brother of the bride, were the only attendants. Master Baldwin scattered pink rose petals, while Miss Martha carried the ring in an American Beauty rose. The ceremony was performed out on the veranda, where one corner was banked with palms and ferns, and the lines were read beneath a canopy of Bride's roses and daisies. Bride roses and garden flowers were used In the rooms.
Mr. and Mrs. Chapin have gone to Minneapolis and Duluth, whence they will take the boat trip to Buffalo. A number of people motored out from Omaha and nearby towns to attend the reception. Among those from the east were: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edwin Chapin and Mrs. Fred Parker and daughter.
