Dorothy Goodenow / Goodnow / Goodynow was born about 1612/1614 probably St Andrew, Donhead, Wiltshire, England where her family resided for many years. Based upon the 19 March 1617/8 proved (noncupative) Will of her father "Thomas Goodynow of Donhed, St. Andrew, Wilteshire, diocese of Sarum" Dorothy, Edmund and Ursula were his three youngest children. Older siblings included Simon, Nathaniell, Thomas, Ralph, John and sister Ursula. Their mother Ursula (Haynes) Goodenow was also mentioned.[1]

Presumably she was first settled in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts. "The town of Sudbury, of which Marlborough was an offshoot, was granted as early as 1638 to Messrs. Pendleton, Noyse, Brown and Company and was incorporated the following year. Marlborough twp. was situated about 8 miles westward from Sudbury; it was petitioned for creation, by leading townsmen, to the General Court in May 1656 . [2] In addition to her future husband, Dorothy's brother Thomas was one of the early Marlborough, Middlesex, Massachusetts proprietors. [2]

Dorothy married John Ruddick-Ruddock after 1633/4. [3]

John Ruddick was born in Wiltshire, England and died on 28 Jan 1693 in Marlborough, Middlesex, Massachusetts. He married 3 times, Dorothy being his first wife. He was one of the original proprietors of Marlborough and he held office in various town positions for many years. He was also one of the selectmen and deacon of the church. [2]

Dorothy died on 9 May 1686 in Marlborough, Middlesex, Massachusetts about age 74. [2]
