About Dorothy Moore
The daughter REV. HENRY SMITH, and his second wife, Dorothy Smith, she was "much sought after as a wife" married four times:
- (1) Rev. John Blakeman about 1653
- (2) Thomas [SIC: Francis] Hall on October 31, 1665
- (3) MARK SAINT JOHN on January 21, 1690 (his second wife)
- (4) Deacon Isaac Moore in 1691 in Hartford, Conn.
Rev. Adam Blakeman, the father of Dorothy's first husband, Rev. John Blakeman, had an unsuccessful law suit with a John Thomas for the hand of Widow Blakeman (Dorothy). In 1665, he (Adam) wrote in his will that his "daughter" [actually his daughter-in-law] would receive five pounds if she would not marry John Thomas or continue a widow for five years. She obviously didn't marry him.
