Dorothy married Harrison Willaims Van Zandt on June 8, 1940, in Houston, Harris, Texas, USA. Together they had the following children:

• Dorothy Donna Vanzandt;
• John Townes Van Zandt;
• William Lipscomb Van Zandt.
