Dr Albert Katzenellenbogen JP was born 15 January 1863 in Krotoschin.
He was deported on 18 August 1942 from Frankfurt/Main to Theresienstadt, from there to Auschwitz and perished soon after.
P.S.: In the »Gedenkbuch« of the German Bundesarchiv (cf.: http://www.bundesarchiv.de/gedenkbuch/de894814), the best german source, is mentioned that he was deported from KZ Theresienstadt to »Maly Trostinec« near by and killed there on August 25, 1942. (Thomas Föhl, 11.11.2013)
He moved from Krotoschin, whose Jewish population at the time was approximately 2,300. This comprised thirty percent of the town's population.
He settled in Frankfurt-on-Main where he lived on Neue Mainzer Street and lastly on Bockenheimer and Strauss Street.
Albert married Cornelia Josephine (1870 - 1941) the daughter of Adolph Heinrich Doctor of Frankfurt-on-Main. Adolph was the son of Jacob and Franciska, Beer-Eskeles (see Chapter X1 - 1, the Eskeles Family). She and her children, although originally of the Jewish faith, were baptised as Lutherans.
Albert was a jurist and a bank director. He was president and vice-president of concerns in Berlin and Frankfurt, the chief one being the Mitteldeutsche Creditbank (Commerz-und-Privat-Bank in Frankfurt).
He was also a member of the board of other banks, textile companies and chemical concerns in various towns in Germany.
