In 1728, Elizabeth between the age of 14 and 21 years made the choice of Mr. Samuel Bradford of Plympton as her guardian.[1]

Joseph, second of the name and son of Joseph and Christian (Garnet/Gardner) Dunbar, was born at Hingham, MA on September 8, 1702.[1][2]

He married Elizabeth Cole of Plympton.[1]

He moved his family to Halifax in 1736.[1]

He married Mercy French at Halifax, Plymouth, MA 22 Sep 1751 (published)[3]

Probate

The will of Joseph Dunbar of Halifax, yeoman was dated 16 February 1779 and proved on 4 March 1782 in Plymouth. He mentions his wife Hannah, and his children, Daniel Dunbar, John Dunbar, Jesse Dunbar, Hosea Dunbar (executor), the two children of his son Benjamin Dunbar, decd., the three children of his son Joseph Dunbar, decd., the child of his daughter Ruth Mahurin, Joanna Dunbar, and his daughter in law Hannah Dunbar (widow of Benjamin).[4]

His inventory was taken on 15 March 1782 in Halifax.[5]

In 1782, his estate was set out to his widow Hannah, and his children, Daniel Dunbar (if he shall ever come to live and dwell in this state), John Dunbar, and Jesse Dunbar, the heirs of Benjamin Dunbar, decd., the heirs of Joseph Dunbar, decd., Hosea Dunbar, Joanna Dunbar, and the heirs of Ruth Mahurin.[6]
