Elizabeth Forbes, here treated, is noticed on 1 March 1541-42, as the widow of Gilbert Keith of Troup and the wife of Alexander Innes of that Ilk, of that Ilk RMS 1513-1546: 2609 Following the death of Alexander Innes of that Ilk in September 1553 she married Alexander Dunbar of Conzie and he was still her husband when she died in December 1570. [NRS: CC8/8/2]

In view of the foregoing it does not seem possible that Elizabeth Forbes, here treated, could be the same person as Elizabeth Forbes who was the wife of Alexander Alexander of Menstrie who died in circa 1555. Stirnet: Alexander 1

The Question of Identity

According to the late Reverend John Anderson, writing in his account of Forbes, Lord Forbes for the Scots Peerage, Elizabeth Forbes, here treated, is the daughter of John Forbes, 6th Lord Forbes and his wife Christian Lundie The Scots Peerage IV: 54

Her Last Will and Testament

Elizabeth Forbes made her last will and testament on 9 April 1570, at her home, the Hall of Kilbuaick (aka Kilboyak) in the Morayshire parish of Alves. The Inventory of her moveable estate was given up by her husband Alexander Dunbar of Conxie and confirmation was granted to him on 31 March 1571. Death

Elizabeth Forbes, here treated, died in December 1570. She made her last will and testament on 9 April 1570, at her home, the Hall of Kilbuaick (aka Kilboyak) in the Morayshire parish of Alves, and she may have died there. [NRS: CC8/8/2]

6 Ju;y 1554: Charter by which the Queen of Scots confirms that she has given the lands of Conze and Petquhensy in the sheriffdom of Aberdeen to Elizabeth Forbes, widow of Alexander Innes of that Ilk, and Alexander Dunbar of Conze in fee.
