• John Humphrey’s “Narrative of the Sufferings of the Christian People called Quakers”, may be found in the “Historical Collections of Gwynnedd”, by Howard M. Jenkins. In this “Narrative”, John Humphrey speaks of John Williams of Merionethshire, “the Father of Evan John and Rees John, who laid down their Bodies in Pennsylvania”. Also, of his own brother “Samuel Humphrey ( who Ran his race and finished his course in the land of his Nativity) but his wife and seven children, in the year of 1683 transported themselves to Pennsylvania”. The wife was Elizabeth Humphrey, who settled in Haverford, and the children were, Lydia, Daniel, Benjamin, Joseph, Rebecca, Ann, Gobitha. Samuel Humphrey and Elizabeth Reese were married before two Justices of the Peace, named Morris Wynn and Robert Owen of Dolessery on ye 20th day of April 1658. Samuel died 9 Mo. 17, 1677, at Bryn-tallwyn. Elizabeth is the daughter of Hugh Rees and wife of Samuel Humphrey whom she married on 20 Apr 1658. They are the parents of eight children whom all emmigrated to Pennsylvinia , along with their mother:
