According to deed transcriptions by Weisiger, John Johnson had land on both sides of the Chickahominy River. His house was on the New Kent Co. side with another tract on the Henrico Co. side. John Johnson married Elizabeth. Her maiden name may(?)have been Britain. They moved to nearby St. Paul's Parish in Hanover Co. VA. In 1736 John Johnson of St. Paul's Parish, Hanover Co. VA. sold his land in Henrico Co. VA. to Robt. Webb. This deed was signed, "Elizabeth, wife of John, relinquished her dower right." This seems to be John's last record appearance. In 1737 James Britain of Henrico Co. sold to Elizabeth Johnson of St. Paul's Parish Hanover Co. VA. 60 ac. in Hanover Co. In 1743 she sold the tract back to him (see "Henrico County, VA. Deeds 1677-1750", by Weisiger). The land processioning records of St. Paul's Parish infer that Elizabeth was still alive in 1751, the "Widow Johnson" is shown on the tract of John Johnson.

John Johnson and Elizabeth had the following children:
[Notes try to show connections between John and the children or between the children]
All of the baptism records only mention John and not a mother.
It appears as if there was another John Johnson in New Kent.
BASED ON DOCUMENTS ATTACHED TO HER FATHER, IT APPEARS THAT THOMAS AND SARAH ARE FULL SIBLINGS. CHILDREN LISTED BELOW ARE ASSUMED CORRECT. KAY HADEN ASLO STATES THAT BENJAMIN, WHO MARRIED MOORMAN, IS LUCRETIA'S. HER SOURCE IS THE JOHNSTON HISTORY LISTED BELOW.
A NOTE AS TO NAMES: MOVING FORWARD IN GENERATIONS, WE FIND AN OCCASIONAL ELIZABETH AND A LUCY AND SOME CECELIA'S-WHICH MAY BE AFTER PETER'S SECOND WIFE-BUT WE REALLY DON'T SEE ANY LUCRETIA'S.
IT APPEARS, A THIRD SON, WILLIAM, MARRIED ANOTHER MASSIE SISTER NAMED SARAH AKA PENELOPE.
The James Johnstone family emigrated to Virginia in the 1690s. Sons Benjamin and John married two Massie sisters, Margery and Elizabeth (a.k.a., Lucretia), daughters of Peter and Penelope Massie. [Source: Johnstons ~ The Johns(t)ons from Caskieben to Missouri.]
There is debate as to whether she was Lucretia or Elizabeth Massie/Massey. "The Johns(t)ons from Caskieben to Missouri" claims she was Elizabeth, but there is other evidence that these were two different people. Further research is needed.

Lucretia (sic: Elizabeth) Massie, who married a John Johnson. Nothing is found in St Peter's parish records for Lucretia, however John Johnson, the father of several children, including one named Massie Johnson, is listed in the parish register. Massie Johnson was baptised Feb 12, 1705. [45] Lucretia and John Johnson are mentioned in New Kent, Va Quaker records as being husband and wife. Although she is often referred to as Lucretia it is thought she is actually Elizabeth Massie who is found in the St Peter's Parish Register, New Kent, Virginia from 1680 to 1787 [45].
“Many Massie trees contain a child named Lucretia Massey, who is supposed to have married a John Johnson. Examination of the St Peter's parish register doesn't provide support as there is not a Lucretia Massey found.”
