About Elizabeth Wolf
GRANDDAUGHTER OF REVOLUTIONARY WAR CAPTAIN JOHN GEORGE OVERMIRE
OHIO PIONEER
A BIOGRAPHY OF ELIZABETH OVERMIER WOLF, by Larry Overmire, Sept. 2008:
Elizabeth Overmire (aka Overmier) was born Feb. 9, 1785, in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, the eldest daughter of John George (III) Overmire and his wife Mary Rearick. She was not mentioned in the Barnhart B. Overmyer's 1905 Overmyer History and Genealogy, because the authors were unaware of her existence.
Melvern D. Overmier, Emmons Overmier and Jesse Edward Herrman did extensive research of wills and land records and put George (III) Overmire's family back together, publishing their findings in "Overmier History and Genealogy 1813-1962, Lineage of Peter III 1680-1905."
Elizabeth appears with her family in documents of Emanuel's Church of the Loop in Tusseyville, Pennsylvania, from 1805-1809. She married John Wolf, Sr., on Nov. 13, 1805, in Potters Township, Pennsylvania. It is believed she gave birth to eight children: John, Peter, Eliza, Mariah, George, William, Abraham and Philip.
The Wolf family probably moved to Perry County, Ohio, about the same time George (III) Overmire did in 1811. The families settled in Jackson Township.
Elizabeth died Aug. 3, 1839, at the age of 54. She was buried in the New Lebanon Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Junction City, Perry Co., Ohio.
