About Ella May Wright
Life and Recollections
Ella Snyder was very much the center of husband William Wright's life. He defied his family to marry her, in fact.
She was a short woman but was sweet of nature and loved my grandfather's boisterous humor and love of laughter. In many ways they were the perfect early 20th-century couple: he worked for the Treasury Department, and she worked in a department store, and they raised two children in a leafy suburb of Philadelphia.
Heart disease, however, claimed her at an early age. Because of that, I have no recollection of my paternal grandmother at all.
Origins
There are two birth records for Ella May Snyder; one for Jan 21, 1888, and another for May 12, 1888. The first has father Fred W Snyder and mother Mary M Snyder. The second has same father but mother Mary Snyder. I have picked the former as representing the true birth date.
