"Elsje (Schoonmaker) Hasbrouck is buried in the old graveyard in the Village of Guilford by the side of her husband. She has a similar stone with the inscription: "Here lies interred the body of Elsje Hasbrouck, widow of Joseph Hasbrouck, Esq., deceased ye 27 day of July 1764, aged 78 years, 8 months and 3 days." She was about 37 years old when her husband died. She was left with 10 children and her oldest, Abraham, was only about 17 years of age. They lived in the wilderness, but she did not succumb to the hardship. She raised her family of six sons and four daughters alone - nine of her children married."

A. Jochem died sometime between when his will was dated on December 9, 1727 and when it was proved on November 7, 1730 as recorded on page 42, Liber 11 Abstracts of NY Wills. He left use of certain good to his wife Antie, all his real estate to sons Cornelius, Benjamin, Jan, Jochem and Daniel. His personal estate to all his children namely Romulus, Hendrick, Frederick, Jacobus, Benjamin, Jan, Jochem, Daniel, Tryntie wife of Jacobus Bruyn, Eltie wife of Joseph Hasbrouck, Jacomyntje wife of Johannes Miler, Greetie wife of Moses Dupuis Jr, Elizabeth wife of Benjamin Dupuis, Helytie wife of Cornelis Wynkoop, Sarah wife of John Dupuis. Sons Cornelis, Frederick, Jacobus as executors. Wit. Johannis Hardenburgh, Jurrian Tappan, Hendrick Sluyt, Gerrit Van Wagenen. 7 November 1730 Proved Ulster Co., before Edward Whitaker, Esq. [27]
