Craig Sheldon's Note: I also came across a book (on Google Book Search) about Howard's Party; this book only lists two sons of Henry JONES and Emily HOWARD - however, the gap between when these two sons were born is ten years (1841 and 1851) plenty of space to include two daughters. The book is called "Through the chequered path: the story of William Howard's party of 1820 settlers" written by Pamela Barnes.

"... the year 1842 had begun with a visit to Uitenhage where their daughter Emily and her husband Henry Jones were now living and teaching, their first child Henry having put in an appearance the previous year."

This is the entry for Emily's sister, Esther HOWARD:
b6 Esther Arabella * Salem Hills c. 1823 died Grahamstown Nov. 1828

Note by Jan A Jones - found Emily's date of death:

"Eastern Province Herald 1851 - 2 - April to June
Written by Sue Mackay. Posted in Eastern Province Herald (later The Herald)

Saturday 19 April 1851
DIED at Uitenhage on Monday the 7th April 1851, Emily, the beloved wife of Henry JONES (Teacher of the Colored Classes), aged 51 years and 7 months, leaving a husband and 7 minor children, with a large circle of relations and friends, to deplore her loss."

Although the article says she was 51 and 7 months it is suspected that it is a typo and should read 31 years and 7 months old.
