The second Esther Baldwin, dau. of Nathaniel Baldwin and Hannah Botsford, was born May 26, 1683 in Milford; bapt. Dec. 19, 1686, and married with SAMUEL SANFORD, of Newtown, Connecticut. '(she had sister Hannah, b. 7/11/1674, who married Samuel Sanford, of Milford).'

Children were: '1.)Nathaniel' (12/8/1702 in Milford-4/14/1768), '2.)Samuel '(4/1/1704; per Milford records, but Newton says Apr. 1, 1703 and has him dying ---7th, 1758,aged 55. He has ch. at Newtown: Samuel; bapt. 8/17/1745 or 46; who m. and had ch. in Newtown, Conn: Avis 1766, Isaac 1768, Josiah 1769-d.1780, Betty 1771 m. Mr. Dennis, Sarah 1773 m Thomas Lyon, Joel 1775, Renah 1777-1779, Azubah 1781 m Andrew Winton, Artinisia 1783 m. W. Winton, and Abigail 1785-1792. 'See page 413 of Baldwin Genealogy for children by 2nd wife)'. AND dau. Hannah, died 3/4/1758 aged about 15. '3.) Esther '(2/10/1707), '4.) John '(10/17/1709-3/17/1792 m. the widow Abiah Dunning and had s. John who was b. in Newtown on 3/23/1762. '5.)Daniel' (11/1/1711), and '6.) Job '(1/10/1715)......All born in Milford.

'7.) Hannah' (6/6/1717, in Newtown), and '8.) Rachel' (6/13/1720 b Newtown m. Ebenezer Booth).

The homestead of Samuel, in Newtown, remains, May 1880, in the possession of his descendant, F. Sanford.

On Apr. 11, 1709 Samuel Sanford conveyed to his father, Nathaniel Baldwin (indexed as weaver); and January 1710 Nathaniel Baldwin, Sen., conveys to his son-in-law, Samuel Sanford, of Milford, and in 1713, like deeds appear. His will (Nathaniel Baldwin's), dated June 8, 1714, proved in New Haven Probate, June 22, 1714, gives to his present wife Elizabeth, which must be at least his 3rd. To son, and dau. Elizabeth, and Stephen Parmalee, on condition of payment to Samuel Sanford, of Newtown; to his son Samuel Sanford, of Milford, who is sole executor. The mention of two Samuel Sanfords seemed at first like a mistake; but I subsequently found, in the Milford Records, a deed from one to the other...
