About Florence Zoe Richardson
In the words of Jean Buchanan: "The eldest [surviving] Richardson was Zoe, who never married, but had an illegitimate daughter by the Head Gardener of the Leverhulme Estate at Oxton, near Birkenhead. It was all kept very secret and the baby was adopted. Zoe was then mourning the death in battle of her fiance, who went the way of nearly all the young men of her generation and no doubt, being - as I gathered from my ma - a highly sexed young woman, she found solace in this way for her loss." Later Zoe had a wool and haberdashery shop in Holland Park Avenue, London.
Exact date of birth, 1 April 1894, from 1974 death index [online].
