About Francisco Roxas Ycasiano
Francisco Roxas Ycasiano was among the initial 104 Filipinos chosen to be a 'Pensionado' in 1903.
The majority of these 'Pensionados' came from the privileged class or prominent families mainly because a high school diploma was one of the criteria in order to be considered into the program.
Francisco R. Ycasiano attended Cornell University, graduating in 1907 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He worked at the Erie Railroad in Avon, New York upon graduating from Cornell University. He eventually became the general manager of the Manila Railroad, the largest system in the Philippines at that time. Francisco was also the supervising engineer of the construction of the historic Manila Hotel.
F.R. Ycasiano was a member of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, as listed in the society's 1920 yearbook.
He holds a patent for:

He is not to be confused with his half-brother Francisco Bello Ycasiano, who was a lawyer.
He was one of the pensionados sent to the US in 1904 (he graduated from the Ateneo de Manila in 1903). He graduated from Cornell University in 1907 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Upon his return to the Philippines, he would work for the Bureau of Science as assistant engineer (1909); as first assistant engineer (1912); and as mechanical and testing engineer (1924). He would eventually become the general manager of the Manila Railroad Company (now known as the Philippine National Railways).
