George was born in Loose, Kent on 2nd April, 1813. On 24th December, 1855 he married Tamar Manuel at Church of St. Mary's, Maitland, New South Wales, Australia. They had 11 Children with this union, they are as follows:

In 1855 after their marriage, George and Tamar settled on the Paterson River. About 1860, after their third child, George, was born, the family moved to the Uralla district following Tamar's parents and other members of the family.

George, engaged in mining at the Rocky in its palmy days and then selected land at Maitland Point where they resided until his death on 7th March,1884 at Rocky River.

Both Tamar and George are buried at the Uralla cemetery, New South Wales, Autstralia.
