About Gideon Allen of Milford
Gideon Allen of Milford, possibly brother of Henry Allen
George and Katherine Allen of Sandwich, MA had a son, Gideon. Henry Allen, their son, moved to Milford in 1645. Although Families of Early Milford, Connecticut does not give parents for Gideon, he named his children "typical" Allen names and the presence of Henry there makes it possible that Gideon was the son of George and Katherine Allen of Sandwich.
Married Sarah Prudden. Their children were;:
- George, bpt 31 March 1678 (Milford)
- Abigail, bpt 5 Dec 1680 (Milford) "from ye 3rd church of Boston". Died Newtown, CT 17 Dec 1755. Married (1) John Shepard and (2) Daniel Foote of Newtown, CT.
- John, born 19 February 1682 (Milford)
- Hannah, born 6 Oct 1685 (Milford). Married Zacariah Whitmas as his 3rd wife in 1709.
- Sarah, died 8 March 1712. Married John Leete.
- Gideon, doctor, married Ann Burr, daughter of Nathaniel of Stamford. (Gives marriage date as 1748 but that does not make sense).

- ******************************************************** Gideon Allen is Macdonald #12, page 20. Macdonald confirms that Gideon Allen is the son of George Allen Sr. of Sandwich and his second wife Katherine.
I recommend that in the profile of George Allen, Sr. of Sandwich that the spelling of Katherine be changed from Catherine to Katherine to match Macdonald's documentation. It also would be helpful to have a note in George Allen, Sr's profile that his second wife Katherine is a different person than the Katherine who married George 'Clothmaker' Allen. Macdonald is very clear at page 2 that Katherine, wife of George Allen, Sr and Katherine Starkes (Slarkes?), wife of George, now George 'Clothmaker' Allen are two very different couples.
Gideon, Katherine's last son, was the administrator to the probate of John Collins, so lived in Boston with Katherine and John Collins. Henry and Gideon both settled in Milford CT. I think that Samuel moved to the next town, Fairfield CT, and sold two lots in 1663, but there is no record to tie Samuel of Boston and Samuel of Fairfield so this is only a suggestion.
