About Gladys Undine McKenzie
June 6, 1961 Wenatchee World: Manson--Mrs. Gladys McKenzie, 76, Manson, a pioneer North Central Washington resident and widow of the late William K. McKenzie, died in a Burlington rest home Monday after a year's illness. Born in Millsdale, Neb., Nov. 30, 1884, Mrs. McKenzie came to Badger Mountain in 1887. Her father, the late C.A. Harris, operated a sawmill there. In 1891 the family moved to Entiat where she married William K. McKenzie April 15, 1906. They operated a cafe in Wenatchee, 1910 to 1920. In 1929 they moved to an orchard home at Manson. He preceded her in death in 1956. Mrs. McKenzie was a member of the First Christian Church, Chelan, a life-member of the Federated Garden Club and a member and past matron of Silver Star Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Chelan. Surviving are three sons, Don and Charles McKenzie, both of Manson, and William L. McKenzie, Moses Lake; one daughter, Mrs. Jennie Vike, Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Mrs. Nioma Gardner, (Nioma married John Shishkoff from Bulgaria, who later changed his name to Gardner.) Newport Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Thelma Cooper, Ardenvoir; eight grandchildren and ....great-grandchildren.
