Hans Christian Søbøtker

Hans Christian Søbøtker was baptized on 24 June 1808 in the Frederiksted Lutheran Mission Church, and as his mother was owned by Madam Storm, he was also. The sponsors were Mr. Titeman, Lieutenant Benggemann, Miss Jane Falckner & her sister, Ann Falckner.

He was granted his freedom on the 28 January 1807 by A. C. Storm, which was recorded in the Frederiksted City Court on 31! January 1807 and a freedom certificate was issued on 4 August 1813.

He was a free colored man, who had a relationship between 1828 and 1830 with Charlotte Emilie Brachett, was born on St. Croix in about 1806, baptized in the baptized and confirmed in the Christiansted Lutheran Mission Church, classified as a free mustice. 

In October 1857, he was living at 2 Company Street, Christiansted, unmarried and occupied as a Planter.  In October 1860, he was living at 2 Company Street, Christiansted, the property of the heirs of Maryann Platfuus, and he was unmarried and occupied as a “Planter &c.”. In October 1870, he was living at 2 Company Street, Christiansted, unmarried, and employed as a Navigator. In October 1880, he was living at 2 Company Street, Christiansted, as a Pensioner.
